Technical FAQ

What powers Milo?

If you will be running Milo for multiple lessons, we recommend running him plugged in with a surge protector.  If you will only be using Milo for a short time each day, you could run from his internal battery that is rechargeable from a standard home outlet.  In that case, you would need to recharge the battery before each time you want to use it unplugged.

What kind of tablets do I need to get?

To access the modules and activate Milo, you will need to download and install the Robots4Autism tablet application to two tablets. One tablet is for the facilitator and the other tablet is for the student. The two tablets can be iPads (iOS version 8.0 or higher is required) or they can be Android tablets (Android OS 4.0.3 or higher).

In addition to two tablets, will I need anything else?

In addition to the two tablets, you will need a functional Wi-Fi network where you know the password for the Wi-Fi. You will need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader/PDF viewer installed to read some of the documentation. If you don’t have it yet, you can install it from here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/. Although most of the documentation can be read online, you will probably want to print out copies of our Student Lesson Progress Sheet, so you will need access to a printer for that specific document. We recommend having a surge protector to plug Milo into. You may want one tablet stand to prop up the student tablet. (A tablet stand is probably not needed for the facilitator tablet.)

Can I select the lesson I want Milo to teach?

Yes, you can select individual lesson options in the order you prefer.  However, we do recommend following the order that our Robots4Autism authors listed them for the curriculum design.
